Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Cherry Hill Team Behind Hearthstone Chimney Co.
Our Cherry Hill crew isn’t a rotating cast of subcontractors. These are the same faces who’ve been climbing roofs and running cameras along the I-295 corridor for years. What holds them together isn’t a handbook. It’s the K.E.Y.S. code: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. Russell Haines built this team slowly, the way you build anything that lasts. Each person here can explain what they found in your chimney and show you the photo to prove it.
Our People
Russell Haines, Owner
I started Hearthstone Chimney Co. in 1984, the year I realized most homeowners in Cherry Hill had no way to verify what a chimney sweep told them. Forty-two years later, that still drives every decision. I hold CSIA certification and keep my Master Hearth Professional credential current, but the credential that matters most is the stack of photo reports I’ve handed to neighbors in Voorhees, Haddonfield, and Marlton. When I’m not on a roof, I’m usually at the shop bench rebuilding a damper assembly that another company wanted to replace entirely. My wife says I talk about flue gases at dinner. She’s not wrong.
Mike D., Lead Technician
Mike has been with us for fourteen years, long enough to know every variation of clay flue liner the builders around Cherry Hill installed from the 1960s through the 1990s. He’s CSIA-certified and specializes in Level-2 camera inspections, the kind that end with a USB drive of photos and a plain-English verdict you can actually use. Mike’s the one who’ll tell you straight when a crack can wait a season and when it can’t. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles in a garage near Ellisburg Circle. The patience that requires shows up in his work.
Sandra K., Senior Installer
Sandra handles our liner installations and rebuilds, the jobs where precision matters because there’s no room to hide a mistake. She’s factory-trained on DuraFlex and HeatShield systems, and she’s the reason we’ve been able to stand behind our 90-Day Done Right Promise on every liner job since she joined in 2016. Sandra grew up in a house with a wood stove in Medford, so she understood draft dynamics before she ever took a certification exam. She still points out bad chimney caps on Main Street when we’re driving to a job. We don’t mind. She’s usually right.
James T., Service Coordinator
James is the live voice you get when you call (856) 543-2929 at 10 PM on a Saturday or 6 AM on a Tuesday. He’s been with us eight years and knows the scheduling rhythms of Cherry Hill well enough to get you booked before the October rush hits. James coordinates our parts inventory from Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield, so when Mike or Sandra says they’ll finish in one visit, the material is actually on the truck. He keeps a whiteboard in the office with every appointment’s special notes, written by hand. He doesn’t trust the digital calendar alone.
Derek R., Apprentice Technician
Derek joined us in 2022 after four years in residential HVAC. He’s working toward his CSIA certification while handling sweeps and basic cap installations under Mike’s supervision. The HVAC background helps. Derek already thinks in terms of whole-system performance, not just the chimney in isolation. He’s the one who notices when a dryer vent termination is too close to the chimney cap, the kind of detail that comes from looking at houses as systems, not parts. Derek lives in Collingswood and bikes to jobs when weather permits. We’re working on his roof-weather tolerance.
One Standard, Every Job
The K.E.Y.S. code isn’t a poster in our break room. It’s how we decide what to do when no one’s watching. Every technician here carries a camera, takes photos you can see, and explains the verdict in plain English. Every estimate is the final number on the invoice. No arguing, no paperwork games. The 90-Day Done Right Promise applies whether Mike runs your inspection or Derek assists on your sweep. We’ve been in Cherry Hill for over four decades because we plan to be here for three more. That changes how you treat a customer. Call (856) 543-2929 and you’ll speak to James or Russell directly. A real person, any hour, any day.
